Limited Warranty Terms and Conditions
The duration of this Limited Warranty shall be either eighteen (18), twenty-four (24), thirty-six (36), or forty-eight (48) months, contingent upon the specific battery purchased.
This Limited Warranty is non-transferable and applies solely to the original purchaser.
Warranty claims shall be processed exclusively by the retail entity from which the battery was purchased, namely: Advance Auto Parts, Auto Zone, O’Reillys, Factory Motor Parts, Parts Authority, or Continental Battery Systems, as applicable.
A battery shall only qualify for replacement under this Limited Warranty if it is determined to be defective or otherwise non-functional due to manufacturing defects, and not merely discharged.
This Limited Warranty does not encompass delivery or installation services for a replacement battery. While the exchange of a defective battery at the designated retail location is provided at no additional cost, said retailer shall not be obligated to remove the defective battery or install the replacement. Additional fees may apply should the purchaser request delivery or installation services.
This Limited Warranty shall not extend to batteries rendered defective due to faulty charging systems or starter mechanisms within the vehicle.
Exclusions from Warranty Coverage
This Limited Warranty does not cover batteries that are merely discharged. Coverage may be denied for batteries damaged due to abuse, neglect, or improper use, including, but not limited to, the following conditions:
- Failure to secure battery hold-downs in accordance with Battery Council International (BCI) Service Manual torque recommendations, resulting in excessive vibration or damage due to over-torquing.
- Low electrolyte levels in batteries requiring maintenance.
- Accelerated corrosion or diminished electrolyte levels resulting from exposure to extreme temperatures.
- Refilling of the battery with any substance other than distilled water, thereby contaminating the battery.
- Failure to maintain an adequate state of charge during periods of in-vehicle or out-of-vehicle storage.
- Subjecting the battery to excessive out-of-vehicle charging or an uncontrolled in-vehicle charging system (e.g., malfunctioning alternator).
- Physical damage, including but not limited to cracked, punctured, or deformed battery cases or covers, or severely damaged terminals.
- Terminal damage resulting from loose, inadequate, or high-resistance connections.
- Loose or missing vents on non-sealed battery designs.
- Installation and operation of the battery in reverse polarity within the vehicle.
- Inadequate protection from environmental elements (e.g., rain, snow, or ice) due to improper battery boxing.
- Use of the battery in an application for which it was neither designed nor marketed, such as employing standard Starting, Lighting, and Ignition (SLI) batteries in cycling applications.
